According to MHI (manufactured housing Institute), the fiscal relevance of purchasing a new manufactured home – like one of the many Kabco models – over a more conventional option during 2014, continued to be an important factor for many who purchased a their modular home: based on a cost and size comparison of new manufactured homes versus single-family site built homes.

Citing today’s struggling economy, the report highlights the increased expense of site built homes and the need for affordable quality housing.

“The affordability of manufactured housing can be attributed directly to the efficiencies emanating from the factory building process. The controlled construction environment and assembly line techniques remove many of the problems encountered during traditional home construction, such as poor weather, theft, vandalism, damage to building products and materials, and unskilled labor. Factory employees are trained and managed more effectively and efficiently than the system of contracted labor, which is employed by the site built home construction industry.”

Noting that the evolution of today’s manufactured homes have embraced many of the newest cost-saving, eco-friendly technologies faster than the conventional construction industry. MHI said that, “ the enhanced energy efficiency in the manufactured homes of today, achieved through upgraded insulation and a more efficient HVAC systems, provides yet another source of savings for today’s manufactured home buyer.” Showing that cost-saving technological advancements, revolutionary design changes, and a laser-like focus on producing and delivering a superior quality modular home that’s still within a family budget is of paramount importance.
