MFH News And Views: Legacy And Champion Acquire Production Facilities, Creating Hundreds of New Jobs In Georgia and Kentucky

Creating 200+ new jobs in Putnam County Georgia and 150 jobs in Marshall County Kentucky!

Legacy Housing LTD, a Texas-based  manufacturer of quality built, competitively priced manufactured homes is expanding their operations into The Peach State, according to the Putnam County Development Authority.

Legacy_housing_limited_IILegacy has recently purchased several of the former Horton Homes properties in Eatonton-Putnam County in order to expand manufacturing and distribution to serve the southeast and east coast manufactured housing markets.

Initial hiring is underway with 70 employees having begun working at the facility, and expect that Legacy will commence initial production with 200-300 workers.The manufacturing plant capacity will support a second production assembly line that would duplicate those employee numbers if business increases significantly to warrant additional workers.

Typically, the production of a manufactured home begins on its frame and travels about a quarter mile away from the final finish station. The assembly line journey requires about a day-and-half from start to completion. The production rate could increase to eight or ten homes per day when the plant hits full production.

The first is a 16 x 56’ with 858 square feet of living space offered from $28,000 to $29,000. The second is a larger version 16’ x 80, square feet model that retails for about $38,000.

Champion To Invest $6.3 Million In Production Facility Located in Marshall County Kentucky – BChampion_home_builders_incorporatedringing up to 150 New Jobs!

Champion Home Builders Inc. will bring up to 150 jobs to Marshall County after deciding to invest $6.3        million in a production facility in Benton, Ky., according to a report by WKYT, 

The Paducah Sun reports state and local officials praised the Michigan-based company’s decision Thursday. The company will lease the 100,000-square -foot manufacturing facility to produce modular, mobile and manufactured housing for distribution to retailers in Kentucky and other states. Champion CEO Keith Anderson says access to skilled labor in the Benton area played a major role in the company’s decision to open a new operation here. Gov. Matt Bevin welcomed Champion to the state, calling it a “great day” for western Kentucky and the state.

Champion was founded by its predecessors in 1953 as a single mobile home building facility in a small rural Michigan town. Over the years, Champion has grown to become one of three largest builders of manufactured homes in the U.S. The others being Clayton Homes and Cavco Industries.
